Mouth Guards

Mouth guards are custom fabricated trays, made of soft, sometimes hard, plastic, fitting precisely on your teeth.

These trays should be viewed as an investment for your health as they provide a variety of benefits and solutions for oral problems that you may not even realize you have. Mouth guards are typically inserted on the maxillary (top) arch of the mouth and help prevent grinding, trauma, and any unnecessary pressure or wear on your teeth.

Mouth Guards

Occlusal guards (“nightguards”) are a great solution for people who clench or grind their teeth, oftentimes during sleep. You may not realize that you are grinding your teeth, but your treating dentist can usually tell you’re a bruxer by looking at the wear patterns on your teeth. Other symptoms of bruxism (“grinding”) are waking up with dull headaches, jaw soreness, facial pain, or fatigue from lack of sleep due to grinding. A nightguard can also stop the erosion of restorations (fillings, crowns, veneers, etc.) caused by bruxism. If you are planning to have new restorations placed on your teeth, don’t be surprised to hear our doctors advise a nightguard to protect your investments.

Just as the name suggests, sport guards protect your teeth against impact and force trauma put on teeth during certain sports. You can go ahead and play rough on the field, but there’s no need to have your teeth pay for it!
